Build a Band
The point of this project was to learn more about different kinds of waves, and how they interact with each other. In this project, each needed to make a string, wind, and percussion instrument, and if there is a fourth person, they can make whatever kind of instrument they want. It was then our job to make an instrument that could play a scale (A through G in any octave). My group had a mandolin for strings, a drum set and chimes for percussion, and I built a trombone for our wind instrument. You can see the proof of efficacy document by clicking the link below. The purpose of a proof of efficacy document is to show that our work, whatever it may be, works as intended, and explaining the science behind it.
Reflection
This project went well for our group as a whole, but I had a few personal shortcomings. The largest one of these being that I didn't have all the materials I needed, and didn't actively trying to go out and buy them. For my trombone, I needed PVC with a different diameter than what we had in the classroom, and I waited until a few days before we were supposed to be done to actually go out and buy that PVC. This led to me frantically trying to finish my trombone the day before it was due. Also, I wasn't able to really help out anyone else with their instruments before I needed to work on mine.
